Petit Trianon Theater

Yaroslav Bubnov

The Baroque era is rightfully considered the "golden age" of dance music. The works of Bach and Handel, Rameau and Lully, which for the most part consist of pieces of a dance character, are the best confirmation of this. A real "festival" of music and choreography of that era was the reign of the French King Louis XIV (1638 - 1715), who, as you know, was himself an excellent dancer and musician. His 72-year reign created the most fertile ground for the development of all the arts, and is rightfully considered the "golden age" of French ballet and opera.

The brightest works of that era, composed by the author of the project Vladimir Shulyakovsky into a complete suite, will become a kind of musical and choreographic narrative about the colorful life of the "dancing" king. Costumes and props specially created for this project by the Petit Trianon Theater will allow the viewer to find themselves at a real court ball in Versailles, and the historical instruments of that distant era (harpsichord, recorder, viols) of the Russian Early Music Ensemble will help you fully experience the magical atmosphere of the era of powdered wigs and crinolines, reflected in the exquisite palace music of the French Baroque.
