La Bayadère. Classical Ballet with Video Effects

A ballet in two acts.

"La Bayadère" is a masterpiece of classical ballet heritage, in which the exotic beauty of ancient India blends with the drama of human passions and the poetry of classical dance.

Majestic palaces and temples, luxurious sets, and exquisite costumes transport us to an ancient Eastern world. At the center of the performance is a tragic story of love, jealousy, and betrayal, and the legendary "Kingdom of Shadows" becomes the embodiment of harmony, musicality, and the perfection of the Russian ballet school.

In "La Bayadère. Classical Ballet with Video Effects," the choreography takes on a new visual dimension. Large-scale video projections expand the stage space, immersing the audience in the atmosphere of ancient India and allowing them to more deeply experience the drama of the performance. The vibrant interplay of dance, music, and digital sets creates a truly immersive experience.

We invite you to see "La Bayadère"—a classical production that combines the expressiveness of dance with contemporary visual solutions.

Act One.

Scene One.

In a sacred grove, the noble warrior Solor and his companions hunt a tiger. At the center of the story is Nikiya, a bayadère and temple dancer dedicated to serving the temple and sacred rites. Having sent his warriors off to continue the hunt, Solor instructs the fakir Magedaveya to tell Nikiya that he will await her in the evening after the festival ends. The Fire Festival begins at the temple. The High Brahmin, accompanied by priests, solemnly appears, and the fakirs join in the ceremony. Nikiya performs a sacred dance. Magedaveya secretly informs the bayadère that Solor is seeking a meeting with her. At the appointed hour, Solor and Nikiya meet. Left alone, they confess their feelings. Before the sacred fire, Solor swears eternal love and fidelity to Nikiya. But the High Brahmin is also captivated by the bayadère. Finding Solor and Nikiya together, he becomes enraged and decides to separate the lovers. Scene Two In the palace, Rajah Dugmanta informs his daughter Gamzatti of his intention to marry her to Solor. Gamzatti sees a portrait of a noble and handsome warrior and agrees with her father's decision. The Rajah is informed of Solor's arrival. Dugmanta asks his daughter to leave them alone. The Rajah greets Solor and announces his desire to marry him to Gamzatti. Solor is in a quandary: he cannot openly refuse the proposal, as he loves Nikiya. At that moment, Gamzatti enters. The Rajah removes his daughter's veil, and Solor sees her face for the first time. Struck by the girl's beauty, he cannot hide his confusion. Dugmanta joins the young couple's hands. The High Brahmin suddenly appears. He tells the Rajah of Solor's secret love for the temple bayadère. The enraged Dugmanta, eager to ensure his daughter's happiness, decides to destroy Nikiya. Gamzatti overhears her father's conversation with the High Brahmin. Upon learning of her rival, she resolves to get rid of the bayadère herself. Gamzatti orders a servant to bring Nikiya. She asks the bayadère to dance at her wedding, then shows her a portrait of Solor, her future husband. Nikiya is shocked. Gamzatti offers her wealth if she gives up Solor. But Nikiya is unable to give up her beloved: Solor has sworn eternal love to her before the sacred fire. In a fit of despair, Nikiya throws a dagger at the Rajah's daughter. A faithful servant saves Gamzatti. Nikiya flees.

Scene Three

The celebration of Gamzatti and Solor's engagement begins in the Rajah's domain. The High Brahmin opens the ceremony. Courtiers, priests, and guests gather for the celebration. The Golden Idol is then brought out. Rajah Dugmanta and Solor appear solemnly. Gamzatti is the last to enter. Solor brings Gamzatti to her father and, in honor of their engagement, presents her with the beautiful skin of a tiger he personally killed during a hunt. The celebration begins. Nikiya dances for Gamzatti and Solor. By the Rajah's command, a servant girl hands the bayadère a basket of flowers. A poisonous snake is cunningly hidden among the flowers. Nikiya takes the basket, and the snake bites her. The fakir, aware of the plot and the evil deed, brings the High Brahmin an antidote. The Brahmin offers it to Nikiya. But Nikiya understands that she will never be with her beloved. She cannot accept salvation and prefers death to life without Solor. Nikiya dies. Solor, unable to bear the situation, leaves the wedding celebration.

Act Two.

Solor is plunged into deep grief after Nikiya's death. Unable to come to terms with her loss, he indulges in memories of his beloved. Magedaveya brings him a hookah. Solor smokes, becoming increasingly lost in his thoughts, until reality gradually dissolves in a haze of visions. The Kingdom of Shadows appears before him—a mysterious world in which the ghostly images of bayadères come to life. One by one, the shadows descend from the mountain heights, and their smooth, mesmerizing movement fills the space with unearthly harmony. Solor peers into the emerging images, hoping to find Nikiya among them. And there she is—the one he lost. Solor rushes toward his beloved. In a dream world, they are together again, and for a moment it seems as if death could not separate them. But this is only a vision, born of Solor's melancholy. The Kingdom of Shadows grants him a meeting with Nikiya, unattainable in real life. And only here, in the shadow world, does their love come to life again.
